In these pages I want to share how I experience the railway, the ordinariness
and the excitement, the glamour and the neglect. The story of the railway only started 200 years ago and yet it has impacted
lives around the world. It is the duty and right of this generation to keep and develop
this heritage for the good of all. Here I want to give a small snapshot of this story as
it enfolds in our day. Therefore text and pictures portray the trains in their environment,
the land and people they connect.
